Doctor Reisz was born in western Kentucky and grew up in southern Indiana. He graduated from Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Sciences and Indiana University School of Medicine. He is boarded in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. He has written articles in JAMA, Chest, American Review of Respiratory Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and other medical journals. He trained numerous medical students, residents and fellows at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine where he served as Distinguished Professor of Medicine. He practiced medicine, trained resident physicians and nurse practitioners, and helped establish the internal medicine residency program at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in the Northwest Province of Cameroon. He worked in the Ebola epidemic of 2014 in Liberia and assisted the University of Liberia to re-establish its medical school and internal medicine residency after the epidemic. He has practiced pulmonary medicine with KC Pulmonary Associates since 2015.
